It's unfair... We don't want it.

The Seattle City Council is once again showing that they're a bunch of spoiled children that are simply unwilling to grow up. From the Seattle Post Intelligencer:
City Council President Nick Licata said Monday that he'll ask the state whether it will pay for a special election on replacing the Alaskan Way Viaduct.
...
But several council members are chafing at the estimated $1 million cost of an election when the state is demanding it. "It's unfair to us, to say the least," Councilman Peter Steinbrueck said Monday. "We don't want it. We've had a deliberative process (on the viaduct) that's gone on for years."
Boo-hoo, it's so unfair. We decided last year that we didn't want to listen to the Legislature when they told us to let the people decide. We couldn't trust the people to vote right and support our expensive boondoggle. Now the Governor wants us to have the people vote and it's so unfair.
I don't mind the idea of the state paying for the vote, but I think it would be even better if the vote were statewide. After all, we are talking about a state highway, not just a Seattle street.
Ah well... we'll probably be hearing about this until mid-March.
