For those we lost, We will not forget 09/11/2001 “Our God given unalienable rights are given to us all as individuals. They tell us what we may do for ourselves, and they are the embodiment of liberty. The so-called rights that government gives to some of us are parcelled out to select groups as classes. They tell us what one class of people may require another to do for them, and they are the very essence of slavery.”

The capitol building, and the Lincoln memorial

I picked up the final CD from the sets that I had converted from slides today. There's some more interesting pictures in there, including one of my mother standing outside the Ankara Community Center in Turkey, and one of the J.C. Penny building in Anchorage after the big earthquake. At least I think that's what that one is. There's a long crack running horizontally across the building...

Anyway, the ones I found the most interesting are of course from our nation's capitol, Washington D.C. This one is of the capitol building itself.

This one is of the Lincoln memorial, taken from ground level at the Washington Monument. In the foreground you'll see not just one, but three of my favorite flags.

For such a small area, Washington D.C. sure has a lot of fabulous sights. It's been a long time since I was there. These pictures definitely make me want to go back for another visit.

Now that I have all of the slides my mother gave me digitized, you can view them all in one of my photo galleries. The last set will be up later tonight.
